Our visit to the Sinai Academy

Image
Last week we visited the Sinai Academy in Bloubergrant. It was very interesting but REALLY fun at the same time! We first met the Rabbi, he talked about the Jewish religion and then showed us the Torah. There was an ark that 5 scrolls were kept in. Then we saw a ram’s horn that the Jewish religion blows on the day of Shabbat. We had to put a coin into a can, so when the can gets full they give it to someone who needs it. We went to the senior school of the Sinai Academy ad they showed us what Shabbat is. Shabbat is on a Friday afternoon, they light up candles before the sun sets and make/buy challah bread, either they serve wine or apple juice. They do this because it’s part of their religion and they believe that because on they last day that God created the world he rested, so they do the same from Friday afternoon to Saturday afternoon. But they can’t use electricity and they have to play other games or rest. I loved going there, I had a BLAST!

Last week we were on camp. We went to Simonsberg Christian Centre. When we got on the bus we were ALL so exited! Although it was a long trip we finally got to Giraffe House. We all watched a reptile show, the guy doing it was really funny. Then we looked at the animals and had our snacks. WE GOT FREE ICE-CREAM!!!!! When we got to Simonsberg Christian Centre we all went to our dormitory's. Then we went to the forest to start building our forts for the fort competition. After awhile we went swimming in the pool. Then we played S.T.O.P stop with Alan and the other camp leaders. It was really fun! After we ate we went on a night hike. They talked about the stars. The next morning we had breakfast and did LOTS of activities. When we finished supper we got ready to go to the bonfire. We did something called Elkanah's Got Talent. We all made up a little show to do in front of everyone. I did a show with Luca and Jadelyn. Then the next morning we all went on the bus back to Elkanah...
